Hidden beneath the surface of Ireland’s wild bogs are more than layers of turf — there are whispers, stories, and flickers of old magic.
In Irish folklore, the bog was a place of mystery. It’s said mischievous bog faeries danced through the mists, luring travellers with strange lights and laughter. Some called them will-o’-the-wisps. Others believed they were spirits of the land, protecting the secrets buried in the peat.
Turf has long been central to Irish life — as fuel, as history, and now, as craft. In my upcoming Turf Candle Workshop, we return to this ancient material in a new way: through storytelling, candle-making, and hands-on creativity.
This experience is not just about making a candle — it’s about connecting with Irish heritage. We’ll work with raw materials like turf, wax, linen, and herbs, while exploring the folklore and faerie tales tied to Ireland’s boglands.
Whether you’re a curious tourist, a lover of craft, or someone drawn to the myth and magic of Irish history, this is a gentle way to step into a deeper story.
